A single “Parquet style” top can contain around 15 different types of wood. The Parquet style tops are manufactured for Ergonomicsdirect by Ecoland, a Cape Town-based company that specialises in reclaimed wooden furniture and artisan wooden decor. Most of the timber for the reclaimed tabletops are salvaged from renovations of old buildings in the Western Cape, resulting in the timber generally being over 50 years old. The pieces of wood are carefully selected, laminated together, and then reworked into a smooth, “puzzle-like” finish.
The manufacturer performs wood waste removal functions for several large-scale industrial clients, retailers as well as private homes. Only selected wood “waste” is reclaimed and turned into beautiful furniture and decor. Creating unique furniture and decor from reclaimed wood also promotes skills development and creates employment in the manufacturing, general maintenance, waste removal and recycling sectors. Ergonomicsdirect is delighted to support the creation of these employment opportunities.
The standard top is 1500mm long x 800mm wide and around 25mm thick. The thickness can vary slightly, depending on the reclaimed timber used. Tops can be made to order with a custom size and finish of your choice. Please note that custom tops will differ in price and carry a lead time of between 2 – 5 weeks.
We generally have sample tops at our Ergonomicsdirect showroom in Cape Town, should you want to view a sample unit.
